A man in Tennessee is facing federal charges for allegedly planning to destroy a Nashville energy facility, an attack which could have potentially left thousands without power. The individual, 24, was arrested on November 2nd, just as he was allegedly about to use a drone loaded with explosives against an electric substation in the Nashville area. He faces charges for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to destroy an energy facility.

Authorities claim the suspect's actions were motivated by white supremacist beliefs. The Department of Justice emphasized its commitment to thwart and penalize such attacks aimed at critical infrastructure. Allegations against the suspect also include earlier intentions to carry out a mass shooting at a separate location in Tennessee.

The complaint suggests that the suspect subscribed to an ideology advocating societal collapse as a solution to perceived irreparable conditions. He allegedly identified strategic targets to maximize damage in major metropolitan areas. Leading up to the planned attack, undercover agents, posing as accomplices, participated in reconnaissance missions and facilitated purchases of explosive materials.

On the day of arrest, agents accompanied him to the planned site and were present as he allegedly prepared the drone. His impending court appearance is scheduled for November 13th.
